Minimum Mandatory sentences in Florida are becoming more and more controversial.


Minimum Mandatory sentences are required to be served day-for-day without any gain time and binds the sentencing judge removing any discretion by the court regardless of the circumstances.


The following is news clip is about a Florida man defending his family by firing a warning shot in his own home without injuring anyone and who is now serving a 20 year minimum mandatory sentence.
